Agli Emmy Awards 2019 trionfano Fleabag e Il trono di spade / Game of Thrones (ma solo a metà), oltre a Chernobyl. Conferme, sorprese e commozione, ma anche tante rivendicazioni LGBTQ. Ecco i vincitori!
Si è da poco conclusa a Los Angeles la cerimonia di premiazione degli Emmy Awards 2019, gli Oscar della tv americana. Una serata senza presentatore ufficiale, ricca di sorprese e vittorie inaspettate, ma anche di celebrazioni per amatissimi show giunti al capolinea, come Veep e Il trono di spade (Game of Thrones). Grande commozione e standing ovation della platea quando tutto il cast si è presentato sul palco per il commiato. Ma passiamo ai vincitori, in una serata ricca di rivendicazioni LGBTQ.
Serie Drama
C’erano pochi dubbi sul fatto che l’ultima stagione de Il trono di spade (Game of Thrones), nonostante le critiche da parte di molti fan per l’inaspettata conclusione, trionfasse come Miglior Serie Drama, e così è stato. Un commosso Peter Dinklage ha invece ritirato l’Emmy come attore non protagonista, mentre gli altri sono rimasti a mani vuote. Infatti il trionfo ipotizzato alla vigilia c’è stato solo a metà, con appena 2 statuette vinte per GoT, che si aggiungono ai 10 premi tecnici dei Creative Arts Emmy Awards, ottenuti una settimana fa.
La “colpa” è in primis di Ozark, che si è aggiudicata i premi per l’attrice non protagonista Julia Garner, che ha clamorosamente battuto tutte le donne di GoT, e per la regia, andato al suo protagonista Jason Bateman. E a proposito di protagonisti, se non è una sorpresa la meritatissima vittoria come attore protagonista dello scatenato e fashionissimo Billy Porter (primo gay dichiarato a vincere in questa categoria), annunciatore delle sfide tra drag queen in Pose, ha invece sovvertito tutti i pronostici Jodie Comer, co-protagonista di Killing Eve, che ha vinto l’Emmy come miglior attrice strappandolo proprio alla sua partner sullo schermo, la favoritissima Sandra Oh, ma anche ad Emilia Clarke di GoT. Il premio per la sceneggiatura va invece a Jesse Armstrong per Succession.
Serie Comedy
Tra le serie comedy trionfa l’inglese di Amazon Fleabag e soprattutto la sua creatrice produttrice sceneggiatrice e attrice protagonista Phoebe Waller-Bridge, che si aggiudica personalmente ben 3 statuette (miglior serie, attrice e sceneggiatura) che si aggiungono al premio alla regia a Harry Bradbeer. La serie racconta della complicata vita di una donna londinese che gestisce tra mille difficoltà una caffetteria.
La vincitrice dello scorso anno, La fantastica signora Maisel (The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel) si consola con i due premi ai non protagonisti, Tony Shalhoub e Alex Borstein. L’ottimo Bill Hader bissa invece la vittoria di dodici mesi fa come attore protagonista di Barry. Nonostante le tante celebrazioni per la conclusione dello show, restano invece a bocca asciutta Veep e la sua pluripremiata protagonista Julia Louis-Dreyfus.
Miniserie
Chernobyl stravince con 3 Emmy, Miglior Miniserie, regia e sceneggiatura. La miniserie co-prodotta anche da Sky racconta in modo crudo e con lo stile del thriller claustrofobico la tragedia nucleare avvenuta nella città sovietica e tutti i tentativi di insabbiamento da parte delle autorità russo. Il miglior attore è a sorpresa il giovane Jharrel Jerome dell’intenso When They See Us, mentre la miglior attrice è la star Michelle Williams, che interpreta la moglie di Bob Fosse in Fosse/Verdon. Meritatissime le vittorie come non protagonisti quelle di Ben Whishaw, vessato ma ostinato omosessuale in A Very English Scandal, e di Patricia Arquette per The Act, considerandolo però un premio “cumulativo” per l’altra sua grande interpretazione in Escape to Dannemora. Dal palco la Arquette ha richiesto con forza la parità di diritti per i transessuali, ancora troppo discriminati, a partire dall’ambito lavorativo.
Film TV ed altri premi
Tra i Film TV vince il favoritissimo film interattivo Bandersnatch (Black Mirror) targato Netflix, con premi anche per l’intramontabile Saturday Night Live e addirittura doppio per RuPaul e il suo RuPaul’s Drag Race (America’s Next Drag Queen) che ha invitato gli spettatori ad iscriversi alle liste elettorali e a votare alle elezioni del prossimo anno. Infine due Emmy anche per Last Week Tonight with John Oliver.
